Responsibilities

Responsibilities
Supporting all facets of a global trading platform with exposure to order management systems, messaging and connectivity using the FIX protocol and market data distribution.
Proactive identification and mitigation of risk to service delivery.
Incident and problem management including:
Coordination of all relevant parties during client-facing outages
Timely escalation of complex issues or problems
Root Cause analysis and follow-up
Regular and systematic testing of application redundancy and failover.
Real-time system monitoring
Capacity planning and assessment.
Application maintenance, including change and release management (planned and emergency application deployment, configuration and patching).
Definition, management, and leadership of projects to improve operational efficiency, system monitoring and automation of manual tasks.
Definition and maintenance of operational run books and other documentation.

Skills

Desired Skills
Conceptual understanding of messaging middleware, distributed caching software and databases.
Ability to investigate Java application exceptions by reviewing Java source code. (read-only)
Problem-Solving skills with demonstrable ability to correlate events; including log file analysis and alerts driven by events in monitoring systems
Able to manage problems and perform root cause analysis.
Able to use source control systems such as SVN and GIT
Able to use products such as Puppet and Ansible

Bachelors Degree

Experience Requirements

Required Experience
2+ years of experience working in and managing Linux based Infrastructure
2+ year of hands-on experience in at least one scripting language
Experience of databases such as MySQL or Elasticsearch an advantage
Knowledge of Java language / JVM's
Experience supporting real-time trading systems with end-to-end application support in an Investment Bank, ECN, or similar institution.
Solid grasp of TCP/IP fundamentals and experience performing basic network troubleshooting.
Team player with good time-management, interpersonal and communication skills
Experience with industry-standard monitoring tools like Opsview, Nagios, Graphite
