A market leader in the provision of Financial Solutions to Global Markets is looking for an experienced Project Manager to join the existing team based in Tokyo, supporting global projects in the securities clearing and settlement domain. This role is part of a multi-year implementation programme for multiple global locations of a major Japanese financial institution, covering a broad range of investment products.
The successful candidate will be the contact point for the client, aligning their requirements with the global IT delivery and implementation functions and, as such, must be able to demonstrate a strong track record of IT change delivery in a financial services environment. Ideally having worked for a solution provider or alternatively being experienced in vendor management from a client perspective, the successful candidate must be confident and self-motivated with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The ideal candidate would be familiar with clearing and settlement operations in an investment banking environment and be confident in their knowledge of operational processing across a number of global markets.
The Project Manager will be responsible for:
Delivery of multi-year, multi-streamed projects to migrate post trade processing to new platforms, across the multiple product range
Providing leadership for the project while maintaining a focus on achieving results
Acting as the contact point for the end client throughout the project lifecycle, including the development and presentation of project plans, progress reports and acceptance by the client of the final product, including participation in client workshops
Internal senior stakeholder management and close liaison with development and support teams
Ensuring the appropriate allocation and skilling of resources and their effective deployment throughout the project
Coordination with our global product delivery groups in UK, US and India, ensuring deliveries meet overall project needs
Active management of the projects to contractual obligations of all parties and the management of change control to those obligations
Financial, technical and schedule reporting
Ensuring that the project is delivered to internal policies and controls
Risk management and problem solving
Active engagement with clients, third parties and suppliers
The development of project plans, including delivery, testing, logistics, in-service support, training and documentation
Essential requirements for this position are:
Proven track record of project delivery within a financial services environment and preferably experience of large scale integration projects, managing multiple parallel streams
Strong experience of Solution Provider / Client relationship management preferable for the provider perspective.
Excellent organisational and planning skills
Strong influencing skills and experience of working in a matrix environment
Strong leadership qualities and self-motivated, used to working autonomously with little supervision
Ability to work effectively under pressure
Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with both business and technology stakeholders at any level
Great interpersonal skills and the ability to influence effective outcomes
Experience of different project delivery methodologies, e.g. Agile / Waterfall and the ability to manage to combinations of these, depending on project needs
Demonstrated contract and general negotiation skills experience
Prior Experience of working with offshore and onshore teams
Formal project management qualifications
Native Japanese or JLPT N1 required
Bachelors Degree or higher
